"Story of Stuff" was created by Activist Annie Leonard to basically explain America's dangerous obsession with material things that has kid-friendly illustrations and has easy delivery to endeared it to environmentalists and educators alike.
I personally cannot say it all facts implied in that video can be used to describe everyone since I'm not an avid shopper. But as a consumer I can imagine the urge to buy as I have been prone to such urges. I sometimes find myself wanting even as my mind tells me that I don't need them. But we cannot simply blame ourselves as it is a part of human nature to always want.
